Dawn McLaughlin awarded for Contribution to Enterprise
Derry City Council Women of the Year Awards
Dawn McLaughlin principal of Dawn McLaughlin & Co, Chartered Accountants was delighted on Friday evening when she won an award at the Derry City Council Woman of the Year Awards. Dawn was nominated by Women in Enterprise in the Contribution to Enterprise category and, although she faced tough competition, her dedication to business was recognised.
Since the inception of the practice in 2005 Dawn has worked assiduously to develop and maintain a sound practice locally. She is committed to her profession and dedicated to her clients. Dawn has shared her experience with fellow network members for over 29 years as mentor and business advisor.
Dawn has given her time to business organisations such as Business In The Community, Women In Enterprise and Young Enterprise. She has been a leading figure in the ongoing efforts of the NW Branch of CMI for some 20 years. CMI develops managers and leaders and Dawn is a perfect role model for such vital civic leadership programmes.
Dawn trained, qualified and spent 18 years with one of the multinational accounting practices (PwC) and this experience provided a sound basis for the establishment of her new practice. Dawn invested in her team members and their continued professional development and they are clearly recognised as playing as important a role in the business as Dawn herself. Dawn ensured the stamp of professionalism was clear from the beginning and is acknowledged as a quality service provider who has a professional and empathetic approach to all her clients.
Dawn believes relationships are essential for the success of any business and uses networking, not only for her own business, but for that of others, including clients and colleagues. She has a strong professional attitude and good judgement. Confidentiality and honesty rank highly in Dawn’s business and are values that she upholds as a matter of course.
Dawn operates an open door policy. If she is in the office she will always take your call. She values her customers and professionalism above anything else and always offers a helping hand to new start businesses and particularly new members of the network. It is now easy to see why Dawn was a strong contender in the Contribution to Enterprise category.
